WHEN ROOF REPAIR ISN’T ENOUGH 

It’s easy to see where a roof needs to be repaired. Perhaps high wind has maybe removed a section of shingles, or you spot that “alligatoring” effect on your flat roof. The signs for roof replacement, however, are a bit more subtle. If you think you may need a roof replacement, look for these signs:

 

Check your attic: Grab your flashlight and look for stains or streaks which indicate a leaky roof.

 

Check your gutters: If you see shingle granules, then your shingles are likely deteriorating.

 

Check the slope of your roof: If it’s sagging, then moisture is trapped, and your boards may be rotting away without you even seeing it.

 

Check for moss: If you spot moss growing on your roof, it means that algae has collected enough to make for a nice home for mold and fungi, which can further deteriorate your roof.
